I think we all spoiled by the ease of access to the lion's share of the Dead's live performances . It's too bad HT doesn't allow their stuff in IA . It has always been a band I feel I should know better .

I'd have to hardely agree w/ you on that. For the most part
they or Jorma have never really taken time off so cash should not be a problem. I can see where tapeing through the board would be a hassel for some bands. There into merchandising all kinds of crap and he also runs his guitar school ranch farm whatever it is. They just don't like to give their product away for free. Lord knows there's enough of it to go around. Still Jormas' one of the best fingerpicker acoustic or electric players ever.

here's the problem I have with the stance - I read Jorma's reasoning for not allowing taping and it was a good one - some guy gave him sh*t about his setup and Jorma's like F that this is my music and the concert goers/audience comes first not the taper and the taper should have no" rights." so i COMPLETELY agree with that. Where it gets lame is the absolute shutdown of torrents even for stuff that has LONG LONG LONG been available and out there for trading. What's the big deal with that? Just as rigid as the Allman Bros. There's always snail mail trades and that's cool but the reality is that most people who have the stuff I want and don;t already have I would have to grovel for because they already have what I have. There's Tuna tunes but it's mainly not the vintage stuff I'm interested in. So if you aren't going to sell me what I want why can't people even torrent trade it?

then sell me some vintage stuff damn it! I like them when they were a little more raunchy. Don't get me wrong they're still impeccible players just not as dirty and Jack doesnt attack that sh*t the way he used to.

At least they could do a vault type release series, or something .
You bring up one of the old things that was not so fun in the "good old days" . The guy who had the stuff you wanted, al ready had what you had . Again we a re pretty spoiled these days !
Something that the old guys should remember, the audience for this stuff, diminishes through time . The longer you sit on it , the more people will forget about it , To quote Pulp Fiction "Motherfuckers who thought their ass would age like wine" ...
